Polestar 2 Performance Review

Polestar 2 Review

Stylish, powerful and overall brilliant performance!

There’s plenty of more words we could have used to describe our experience of the new Polestar 2 we had delivered over the weekend. With the top spec Long range performance model with electric dual motors, 301 miles of range and a whopping 469 bhp! With instant power and torque, this car’s power is scary, with a reported 0-60mph time of 4.5seconds (it definitely felt shorter). It’s got everything you’d want when looking for a well built, fun, electric car… with supercar performance!

The Polestar 2 comes with great on-board technology that you would expect from any high-end electric car, including keyless entry and no Start / Stop button meaning that only need to touch the break peddle from when you sit down, and the car is ready to go. You certainly won’t be let down when it comes to the interior features with Dual zone climate control, heated front seats and an electric tailgate to name a few. This car comes well-packed with the latest gadgets.

You can see Volvo’s influence clearly and the glass roof panel, frameless door mirrors and high quality inserts just add to the elegance of this car. There is definitely a premium feel around this car. This feeling doesn’t stop when just talking about the exterior of the car, the car has a comfortable ride and the front driver/passenger have plenty of space and storage, rear passengers also had a good amount of legroom for a comfortable journey. Overall we found the Polestar 2 offers a good driving position and plenty of adjustment options to tailor the seat to the individual driver.

The centre console includes a 11-inch touchscreen infotainment system and is the first car to use Google OS, and now supports Apple Car Play too, which I have to say works fantastically well. Google Maps and Google assistant are also included as standard. One of the big differences from the likes of Telsa, it keeps its digital instrument display in front of you keeping all the crucial information right there and not distracted by the general console which we thought was a great feature.

Most Polestar parts are covered by a 3 year / 60k mile warranty, and the Polestar 2 in particular also comes with an 8-year battery warranty as standard. Any new purchase also includes 3 years servicing at an authorised Polestar partner alongside 3 years roadside assistance.

The car leasing rates on the Polestar 2 are very competitive which is testament to its very strong residual value with 2 & 3 year end values expected to exceed that of both the Model 3 and the Kia EV6. This makes the Polestar an attractive proposition for both personal and business users looking to lease a Polestar. It is in fact as a business vehicle that the polestar really comes into it’s own – attracting low BIK tax bills which the Government have now confirmed will remain low until at least 2028!

So? What did the Amber team think of their weekend with the Polestar?

5 Stars all around from the team! Stylish and sleek design with a real punch when you put your foot down with plenty of power and instant torque, this car is certainly a lot of fun. The Polestar’s 2 build quality was excellent and well-finished.

Anyone thinking about getting an electric car should give the Polestar 2 serious consideration.
